Legal philosopher Marieke Hopman (1988) graduated in 2014, after writing her thesis on childhood and child soldiers, including case studies in Rwanda and the Netherlands.
Since 2015 she is the first PhD researcher in the Netherlands to fund her research through crowdfunding. Thanks to donations, she is able to do research on children’s rights in different parts of the world, such as the Central African Republic and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
In her research, Marieke attaches great importance to listening to children themselves. What do they find important, what do they need and how can we help them?
Please support research on children’s rights, so that Marieke can continue to find answers to these questions.
